In 2025, the global outdoor home furnishings market is expected to exceed $49 billion. With a domestic market size of 98 billion yuan and an export growth rate of 11.2%, China has emerged as the core driver of the industry’s growth. From the diversification of consumption scenarios and technological iteration on the industrial side to the shift from single product sales to full-chain value-added services, Chinese outdoor home furnishings enterprises are leveraging a three-dimensional strategy of product innovation, model reconstruction and global layout to shed their traditional OEM labels and build differentiated competitiveness of Intelligent Manufacturing in China in the global market.
 
Scenario extension and demand stratification have spawned a new wave of product innovation. In the domestic market, customized urban balconies, systematic roof gardens and functional commercial spaces have become the three major growth pillars. In 2025, the market share of customized balcony solutions has expanded to 28.3%, and the procurement scale in the fields of hotel resorts and catering outdoor seating has exceeded 38 billion yuan. Enterprises have launched targeted layouts accordingly: for the mass consumer market, foldable and modular furniture accounts for 35% of the market share due to their flexible adaptability; for the mid-to-high-end customer groups, products integrated with solar lighting and intelligent temperature control have achieved an annual growth rate of over 20%, with a market size of $1.9 billion. Notably, the application of eco-friendly materials has accelerated comprehensively—the proportion of recycled plastics and bamboo fiber composites in products has surged from 28% in 2023 to 41% in 2025. Consumers’ willingness to pay for sustainable products has increased by more than 12%, driving the industry’s transition toward green development.
 
Business model innovation is reconstructing the industrial value chain. The “Neighborhood Showroom” model pioneered by DTC brand Outer continues to gain momentum. By encouraging existing users to share their real outdoor spaces for new customers to experience, coupled with a $50 reward mechanism, the brand has built a network of over 1,000 real-scene experience sites across 49 U.S. states. Combined with social media marketing that has generated over 50 million views for the TikTok hashtag #liveouter, Outer has achieved a double explosion of word-of-mouth and sales volume. Meanwhile, the penetration rate of customized services has risen to 42.3%, as enterprises shift their focus from selling furniture to providing one-stop outdoor lifestyle solutions.

On the global front, Chinese outdoor home furnishing brands are accelerating their localized operations beyond simple export. Leading enterprises have set up R&D centers in Europe and North America, tailoring products to regional preferences—such as wind-resistant outdoor sofas for coastal European households and moisture-proof teak furniture for North American backyard enthusiasts. Data shows that the export volume of high-value-added outdoor home furnishing products from China surged by 27% year-on-year in 2025, far exceeding the industry average growth rate.
 
Industry insiders point out that the integration of digital technologies such as AI-driven scenario design and VR virtual experience will further reshape the consumption model of the industry. As Chinese brands continue to deepen their layout in technological innovation, sustainable development and global localization, they are not only reshaping the global competitive landscape of outdoor home furnishings but also leading the upgrading of the global outdoor lifestyle with Chinese wisdom and craftsmanship.
